The Best Jetsetting Beauty Products

Have you ever counted how many beauty products you use to get ready in the morning, or for bed? I’m talking about everything you use like soaps, loofahs, brushes for hair and makeup, creams, hair products, makeup, toothpaste, etc.. Believe me, the number will surprise you!

Of course, traveling with every single item you use would take up way too much space in the limited luggage airlines allow. Luckily, there are some awesome travel sized products out there, especially for people who don’t want to sacrifice their beauty routine all together! Even better, there are some great solids available that won’t interfere with that nasty TSA 3-1-1 liquid rule.

I’ve put together some of my favorite new (and some old) finds for your 2020 jetsetting plans. Disclaimer: I am not being paid by any of the manufacturers to peddle the following products. I use them myself and want to share the joy!

Silicone Bottles and Jars

Reusable silicone bottles and jars come in various sizes. I use them for necessary beauty liquids and put them in my checked bag. Many of my favorites aren’t available in travel size like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, face moisturizers, etc., so I put them all in various sizes of these bottles and jars. Also, I keep my favorite hairspray in a small 2 oz. plastic pump spray bottle and put it in my carry-on liquids bag. Find the bottles and jars at your local drugstore or on Amazon.

Dual Voltage Hair Appliances

Most hotels, VRBO rentals and so on, have hair dryers available. However, if you need a curling iron or hair straightener be sure to bring one that is dual voltage 110-220 or it will die (I’ve murdered a few). Remember to bring an adaptor plug as well! Buy small travel appliances online or at beauty supply stores.

Dry Shampoo

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is THE best! I love this stuff. On days when I just don’t feel like washing my hair, or I’m in a hurry, this product saves my hair and simplifies my beauty routine. It doesn’t leave a white film like many other dry shampoos. Spray in on, rub it in, brush and voilà clean hair! As an added bonus it adds volume to your locks.

If you’re traveling with just a carry-on and are tight on liquids space, there are dry shampoo powders that you sprinkle on, but I’ve never tried them.

Eyeliner Pencil

Leave the liquid liner at home and pick up a gel liner pencil. There are plenty to choose from. My new favorite is the No Tug Waterproof Gel Liner pencil by IT Cosmetics, it goes on smooth and stays on until you take it off! It’s available in several shades online or at beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta.

Foundation Stick

Leave the liquid foundation at home and get a foundation stick, it doesn’t qualify as a liquid with TSA! Lancome, Bobbi Brown and Shiseido all make great foundation sticks. I love the Shiseido MakeUp Foundation Stick with SPF 15, it’s lightweight and buildable.

Travel Makeup Mirror

For old eyes, like mine, a makeup mirror is essential. My mirror has 10x magnification – yes, I’m blind up close – and a light. It folds up flat and stands up on the counter. Amazon has a huge variety of travel sized mirrors to choose from.

Mini Eye Shadow Palettes

Traveling is the perfect time to put those mini shadow palettes you get as a gift with purchase to use! I try – often without success – to limit myself to one palette. My go to favorite is the mini Naked2 neutrals, with 5 shadows it should be plenty. Of course, I also bring a few singles of my favorite shades – I like to have options.. Ugh, the struggle.

Also, pick up a small, travel-sized mascara to bring. Sephora and Ulta have many different ones to choose from. My go-to is Roller Lash by Benefit.

Refillable Perfume Atomizer

Probably my best find ever! I found one of these years ago at a perfume factory in Grasse, France and have used it ever since. I keep one in my purse at all times. Fill it from any perfume spray bottle and pack to in your liquids bag or suitcase. Forget bringing a breakable glass perfume bottle with you, these things are fantastic! Buy several for all of your favorite scents on Amazon.

Patchology On The Fly Mask Kit

Airplane air sucks the life out of your skin, so this is my new fetish. For $20 you get a set of eye gels, one lip gel mask, a hydrating face sheet mask and an illuminating face sheet mask. I use the eye gels and hydrating mask as soon as I get to the hotel, or even on the plane if it’s a long flight. I also travel with additional eye gels for puffiness, my new favorites are Peter Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches. Shop for this kit at Ulta or Patchology online.

Hydrating Face Mist

Hydrating facial sprays are another excellent way to combat dry airplane air, or dull skin after a night out (i.e hangover). My current favorite is Caudelie Beauty Elixir with mint, rosemary, orange and rose it smells fabulous, hydrates, minimizes pores and radiates. Use it as a toner, make up primer, setting spray and to refresh and hydrate during the day! Another favorite is Mario Badescu Facial Mist with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, which gives you a wonderful glow.

Mini Facial Cleanser

Introducing the Forneo Luna play plus…my new travel friendly, silicone facial cleansing brush…a must have! I used to use a Clarisonic, but replacing the brushes was getting expensive. This baby is awesome, less expensive, smaller and cleaner. The silicone washes off easily and one AAA battery lasts about 400 uses! It’s compact and perfect for travel. Use it with your favorite foaming cleanser. Your skin will thank you.

Mini CC Cream

My favorite CC cream is CC+ Illuminating by IT Cosmetics, but it’s not available in mini size (hint, hint to IT Cosmetics). For carry on travel, I choose the CC+ formula pictured above since it comes in a travel sized tube! This wonder cream comes in multiple shades (I often mix two) and provides just the right amount of coverage. And with SPF 50 it’s a no brainer. Buy it at Sephora or Ulta, or online.

TSA Approved Liquids Bag

I love my Vera Bradley TSA approved 3-1-1 liquids bag! It’s much more attractive than a quart sized ziplock, and I feel like it fits way more as well. Find it and many others on Amazon. Sephora sells one for $5, which I use on occasion too. Of course, I always bring several quart and gallon sized ziplocks along just in case!

You don’t have to bring your full arsenal of beauty products while traveling, but don’t sacrifice your skin either! Pick up some of my fun favorites for your next trip.
