Best New Travel Accessories

Every smart traveler knows that travel accessories are essential to staying organized. Packing for any trip is a major feat of organization. Over the years, I’ve perfected my packing strategy, but I’m always on the lookout for great accessories and travel gear.

These are my new 2020 favorite “picks” for my next trip…although with the current travel bans who knows when that will be. One can always dream and plan for when the restrictions are lifted, right?

Air Pods

I bring noise cancelling headphones for any lengthy plane trip, but these wireless ear buds are great for short trips or exercising. Way smaller than those bulky Beats, these little guys come in handy at the beach and pool to muffle the sound of screaming children!

Universal Adaptor

American plugs won’t fit anywhere else, so be sure to bring adaptor plugs with you to charge your electronics. I have this universal plug that has 2 USB slots to charge my phone and iPad. It’s compact and has international adaptors for everywhere all-in-one!

Travel Jewelry Case

I bought this for my last trip to France. Amazingly compact, it holds several necklaces, rings, earrings, etc., and has inside zipper compartments for bracelets, watches, and such. I used to just throw everything in a zippered pouch and spend half the morning searching for two matching earrings. This little number changed my life! Find it and tons of similar ones on Amazon.

Cable Organizer

Searching for plugs and pulling cables out of your bag is a hassle. This handy case has slots for cables, pens, a mouse and more. Super lightweight and compact, it fits into any carry on. Find this and similar ones on Amazon.

Smart Luggage Tags

Have you ever experienced the dreaded lost luggage? Invest in smart luggage tags and locate your luggage anywhere. Confession: I bought these recently, while under COVID house arrest, so I haven’t tried them out yet. Can’t wait to test drive them!

Luggage Locks

Invest in TSA friendly luggage locks. I always lock my suitcases, you just never know. They’re great to lock items that won’t fit into the hotel safe in your bags. Of course, a thief could just walk off with your bag but that would be pretty blatant!

Digital Luggage Scale

If you know me, you know I tend to overpack for every vacation. Hey, a girl’s gotta have choices, right ladies? Unfortunately for people like me, airlines have strict luggage weight limits nowadays. Get one of these portable digital scales and never pay those ridiculous overweight luggage fees again!

Collapsible Water Bottle

Stay hydrated with this collapsible water bottle. It’s made of safe silicone material, folds up to nothing and fits in your handbag. I fill mine up after going through airport security. It’s great to have on trips for hiking and walking around town. Confession: I brought two of these on my last cruise. I filled them with wine purchased on shore to bring back to my stateroom – one holds almost a whole bottle of wine. Cruiselines are sticky about bringing alcohol onboard…this solved that problem when going through ship security (they just thought it was water LOL)…shhhh don’t tell anyone!

Wine Bottle Protectors

I love these bags. Recently, I flew to Las Vegas with four bottles of great wine to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I packed the bottles in these bags and wrapped them in clothing. No broken bottles or red wine stained clothes! These babies are great to take on a trip, they can be used to safely transport liquid souvenirs like perfume or olive oil. Find them at wine stores or online.

Who knows when we will be able to travel to Europe again, but why not prepare now with some great travel accessories?
